Let us note and review carefully what christ said in luke 14:26: “if anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. â€however, christ also commanded us to love even our enemies (luke 6:27), and to love our neighbors as ourselves (matthew 22:39). As the bible does not contradict itself (john 10:35), it is therefore obvious that jesus’ sayings in luke 14:26 cannot mean that we actually are to hate our fellow man. But what do they mean?.
Today’s big question: how do i correct a brother or sister in christ? as the body of christ, we are to support each other as we mature and grow in our christian walk. We still struggle with our flesh, so we fail every now and then, but this is where other believers can correct us and help us move past our mistakes and put christ first in everything we do. Pointing out errors to other christians requires extremely delicate handling, and there are certain principles we should follow when doing so.
One of the most needed and yet most neglected ministries in the body of christ is that of going after and seeking to restore a brother or sister who has fallen into sin. We avoid doing it for a number of reasons: no one likes confrontation. We don’t know what to say or how to go about it. We don’t want to be judgmental or critical. We’re aware of our own shortcomings and don’t want to come across as hypocrites. So we say, “it’s none of my business,†and let the person go on in his or her sin. Or, perhaps you tell one of the pastors or elders and let them deal with it.

Siblings are mentioned often throughout the old and new testaments. Some of the most famous siblings we find are cain and abel (genesis 4:1–8); jacob and esau (genesis 25:19–27); joseph and his eleven brothers (genesis 37); moses, aaron, and miriam (numbers 26:59); peter and andrew (matthew 4:18); and martha, mary, and lazarus (john 11:1).

If we have sinned against someone else, the holy spirit will already have convicted us. He makes us feel uncomfortable, so we need to take responsibility for our own actions and not blame someone else, or try to make excuses for what we have done. We need to confess to the lord what we have done, and ask for his forgiveness, and then for wisdom as to how to make steps in reconciliation. Jesus gives some advice in matthew 5:23: if you go to church, in order to pray and take communion but realize that a brother has something against you, first go and be reconciled with him, and then you will be able to return to church and worship and serve the lord. You cannot pretend that nothing has happened, and the lord is not pleased with us if we carry on our lives and avoid the issue.
Brothers can be found doing virtually every ministry which christians perform: evangelization, catechesis, education, the works of mercy and service to those in need. Brothers are essential members of many pastoral staffs, hospital and nursing home teams, diocesan office staffs. Brothers live and minister among us in cities, suburbs, and rural areas; many labor in foreign mission lands.
First thessalonians 5:1–11 tells us that christ died for us so that we can live together with him. “therefore encourage one another and build each other up…†it is crucial that we encourage our brothers and sisters in our small groups, where we “live together with him. †here are some specific ways to do so:.

To abide in the light means to live with your life exposed and open to god’s word. You allow the word to shine into the dark recesses of your mind, exposing and rooting out what is evil. John says that loving your brother is inseparable from abiding in the light.

Who does the Bible say is my brother?
We often talk about how god calls us to care for our brother in the bible, but in fact, most of those verses are really talking about just caring for fellow human beings.
